Teeth Whitening in Spring Branch & Memorial, Houston, TX

What is Teeth Whitening?

Teeth whitening, also known as bleaching, is a cosmetic dentistry procedure aimed at removing stains and discoloration from your teeth. At Lifeworks Dental, we use a proprietary chemical in our teeth whitening process to help restore your dazzling smile and enhance your overall appearance.

The procedure works by applying a bleaching agent, typically containing carbamide peroxide, to the surface of your teeth. When activated, the carbamide peroxide releases hydrogen peroxide, which acts on the surface of the teeth to remove surface stains and discoloration.

We offer both in-office and at-home teeth whitening options. The in-office procedure involves applying a potent bleaching formula to your teeth, which can provide significant results in a single session. For at-home whitening, we provide you with custom-made trays and a bleaching formula to use at your convenience.

Teeth whitening is an excellent option for those who are not satisfied with the natural shade of their teeth and wish to improve their smile and facial aesthetics. It’s highly effective in removing stains caused by tea, coffee, tobacco, and certain foods or drinks with strong colors.

At Lifeworks Dental, we use the proprietary Opalescence by Ultradent whitening system, which is recognized worldwide for its safety and efficiency. This system combines both home and professional teeth whitening to provide the best aesthetic results. Its unique and powerful formula can remove even the most resistant teeth stains, including the notorious tetracycline stains, which most tooth whitening materials cannot remove.

3 Types of Bleaching Options:

At Lifeworks Dental, we offer three types of teeth whitening options: home bleaching, in-office bleaching, and a combination of both.

  • Home Bleaching: This method involves the use of custom-made whitening trays and a special bleaching formula. Our dentists, Dr. Tran and Dr. Nguyen, will first take an impression of your teeth to create these trays. You will then be provided with these trays and a bleaching formula to use at home for about two weeks. This method allows you to whiten your teeth at your own convenience.
  • In-Office Bleaching: This method involves a single visit to our office where we apply a more potent bleaching formula to your teeth. This can provide significant results even in a single session. Depending on the severity and type of teeth stains, some patients may require more than one visit for in-office whitening.
  • Combination of Home and In-Office Bleaching: This method combines the benefits of both home and in-office bleaching. You will first undergo an in-office whitening session for immediate results. Following this, you will be provided with custom-made trays and a bleaching formula to use at home. This helps to enhance and maintain the results achieved during the in-office session.

What to Expect:

It’s common to experience some tooth sensitivity or discomfort during the whitening process and a few days afterwards. This is a normal side effect and should subside within a few days. To help manage this sensitivity, our dentists will apply a fluoride varnish to your teeth after the whitening procedure. You can also use a toothpaste containing fluoride for a few days after teeth whitening to help reduce sensitivity.

After the teeth whitening process, you can expect your teeth to be several shades whiter. The exact degree of whitening can vary from person to person, depending on the original color of your teeth, the type of stains, and how well your teeth respond to the bleaching agent.

Each of these methods has its own advantages and can be chosen based on your personal preferences, lifestyle, and the results you wish to achieve. Our dentists at Lifeworks Dental will guide you in choosing the most suitable method for you. To learn more about our teeth whitening options, contact us at (713) 956-5433.
